What is PVC resilient flooring?

PVC resilient flooring, or vinyl flooring, is a versatile and durable type made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is known for its resilience, which means it has a certain degree of flexibility and can bounce back into shape after being compressed. PVC resilient flooring is widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings due to its low cost, ease of installation, and moisture, chemicals, and wear resistance.

At ChanglongFlor, we offer 1500+ PVC resilient flooring designs for various applications. Reach out to explore how we can help you find the perfect flooring to meet your needs.

What are the characteristics of PVC resilient flooring?

Recyclable: When the floor reaches its service life or needs to be replaced, the removed floor can be recycled without causing environmental pollution.

Durability: Due to the excellent properties of the material, it can reduce dents, scratches, stains, wear and tear, etc., in daily use without special maintenance.

Waterproof: Due to its non-absorbent properties, the product will not be affected by moisture and expand, deform, or warp, and can be used in humid environments in the home, such as bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and laundry rooms.

"Zero" formaldehyde, no "heavy metal" exceeding the standard: The product uses pure raw materials and natural, eco-friendly components. The production process only relies on high temperature and pressure to form a bond, eliminating the need for glue.

Quiet and comfortable foot feel: Because the product has a certain "elasticity", it can significantly reduce walking noise and can provide certain buffer protection in the event of an accidental fall.

What is the difference between different types of PVC flooring?

In addition to different design inspirations, sizes, and specifications, our products also have different thicknesses of wear-resistant layers to choose from. The thicker the wear-resistant layer, the more durable the floor. Our product designers have also done more work on the surface treatment - adding unique embossing for more texture realism and different peripheral chamfers to make the paving effect more beautiful. From the installation method, it can be divided into click, glue-free, and glue-coating.

How durable is PVC flooring?

PVC flooring is a very durable floor covering product and a good choice for decoration, especially in high-traffic areas or wet places such as bathrooms, kitchens, and basements, where PVC flooring can better reflect its unique advantages.

Is your flooring waterproof?

The flooring material itself is waterproof. However, moisture and water immersion may still affect the underlying layer of the floor, causing problems with the floor.

What Is Luxury Vinyl Flooring Made Of?

LVT is a vinyl flooring product made primarily from calcium carbonate (limestone), polyvinyl chloride, and pigments. It is structured with five layers - two PVC backing layers, one high-definition photographic layer, one clear PVC embossed wear layer, and a top polyurethane (PU) protective coating.

What Is the Difference Between Different Types of Vinyl Flooring?

Besides having different design inspirations, sizes, and formats, which make each range unique, each of our vinyl flooring product ranges has a different wear layer. The thicker the wear layer, the more durable the floor, and the more our product designers can do with the finish - adding unique embosses for more texture and beveled edges.

Is Vinyl Flooring Durable?

Yes. Vinyl is a very durable product and is an excellent choice for high-traffic areas or areas with moisture issues, such as bathrooms, kitchens, or laundry rooms. Luxury Vinyl is known for its high durability thanks to its superior wear layer. The wear layer maintains the original appearance of the floor and provides easy maintenance.

Is Vinyl Flooring Waterproof?

Only the flooring material itself is waterproof. Moisture and flooding can still affect the subfloor/substrate beneath, causing the installation to fail. However, the flooring material can be removed, allowed to dry, and reinstalled.

Is Vinyl Flooring Slippery

As with most smooth floor coverings, water and other liquids can make it slippery. Our floors are designed to be slip-resistant, but it is always best to clean up any spillages straight away and keep the floor dry.

Does My Vinyl Floor Scuff?

Yes, certain materials will scuff a vinyl floor, like dark-soled shoes, sneakers, rubber-based shoes, and furniture bottoms.

Will the PVC flooring slip when it meets water?

Yes, like many other flooring materials, excessive water or liquid can lead to slippery conditions. However, our PVC flooring exhibits improved slip resistance even with small amounts of water, such as residual water spots after mopping. This is due to the material’s unique polymer composition, which enhances its anti-slip properties, making it less prone to slipping when compared to other flooring options.

Will sunlight fade my floor?

Yes. All PVC floors will fade gradually under prolonged exposure to strong sunlight. We recommend using appropriate curtains in places where sunlight can shine to reduce sun exposure. However, fading itself will not adversely affect performance.

How long can vinyl flooring be used?

By following our instructions for use and simple maintenance, our PVC flooring can last for decades. Depending on the specifications, we promise a service life of 10 to 35 years or even longer.

Can I install PVC flooring over existing floors?

Yes, you can install PVC flooring directly on top of hard surfaces like marble, ceramic tiles, laminate, and wood flooring. You can also lay a new layer of PVC flooring on an existing PVC floor. However, it’s important to note that the existing floor must be stable and in good condition without any soft or cushioning layers beneath it, as these would not provide the necessary support for PVC flooring.

Can PVC flooring be used for floor heating?

Yes, but it should be noted that the heating temperature of the floor should not be too high. Refer to the international standard ISO8320, which requires that the PVC floor should not be heated to more than 81°F (27.2°C).

Is PVC Flooring Safe?

Formerly, PVC sometimes contained heavy metals, which were dangerous for people and the environment. However, now all our PVC-based flooring is metal-free, phthalate-free, and safe to use, even in healthcare. Practical, hygienic, and highly durable, LVT is a floor product that's ideal for commercial spaces.

Can Luxury Vinyl Flooring Disinfect Against COVID-19?

Luxury vinyl flooring is designed with bacteriostatic and fungistatic properties, which help inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. However, it’s important to note that these characteristics do not extend to disinfecting against viruses like COVID-19. Regular cleaning and disinfection practices are still necessary to maintain a safe environment.

Does Vinyl Flooring Fade in the Sun?

All vinyl floors are affected by sunlight and may fade over time. We recommend the use of suitable window coverings to minimize the exposure to sunlight.

How Long Do Vinyl Floors Last?

With regular maintenance, your beautiful vinyl floors will last for decades. Vinyl flooring offers warranties promising a lifespan of 10 to 35 years and beyond.

How to Install Vinyl Plank Flooring?

Depending on your style preference, LVT/LVP flooring uses narrow or wide planks constructed from vinyl, which is a durable, waterproof material suitable for use in bathrooms, basements, hallways, and kitchens. LVT/LVP flooring can be installed in virtually any space, but there is a catch: there are numerous steps to the process, from removing the existing baseboards to finishing off with decorative trim. For the best results (and the least hassle), you should let a professional handle the process for you.

Can Luxury Vinyl Flooring Be Installed Over Existing Hard Surface Floors?

Absolutely! You can enhance your space by installing luxury vinyl flooring over your existing hard surface floors. This is a great way to achieve a fresh look without the hassle of removing the old flooring. However, it’s important to follow specific guidelines to ensure a successful installation:

1.Avoid installing LVT Click or Glue Down products over cushioned-back vinyl flooring.  2.Do not install LVT Glue Down over floating systems or any perimeter bond.  3.LVT Glue Down flooring is suitable for installation over non-cushioned, well-bonded, resilient vinyl flooring that is no more than one layer thick.

For the best results, consult with a professional flooring installation team to assess your specific situation and provide guidance tailored to your needs.
